Another in a not-so-regular series of posts highlighting talented wedding vendors in Maine….
Wow. So many things to be covered in this post, which is prompted by seeing–for the very first time this morning–our album from Dani & Rob’s wedding featured on the web site of Miami-based wedding album maker extraordinaire Album Crafters. Okay, I know this series is about Maine vendors, but since there are no major album companies in Maine, maybe an exception can be made this time?
The Dani-Rob album was the culmination of great teamwork. First, of course, there was Dani & Rob, who planned a very pretty wedding on Popham Beach, where Rob’s family has owned a vacation home for several generations. Believe it or not, it was our very first time shooting a wedding on a sand beach, and we couldn’t wait. The weather was perfect and the wedding so photogenic that when we started putting together Dani & Rob’s album we thought “Why don’t we make ourselves a studio sample, too?”
The album design was spearheaded by Dana Baldwin, a terrific freelance graphic designer from Brunswick who we’ve brought on board as lead album designer. She came up with a lovely design that captured the beauty of the day and the fun spirit of the party.
About this same time, Album Crafters comes in. We’ve been very happy with Album Crafters since another satisfied customer / wedding photographer turned us on to them a couple of years ago. They are very easy to work with, they offer a wide range of gorgeous products, Rachel (our contact in customer service) is an absolute dear to work with, and album turnaround times seem much better than average for the industry. Album Crafters had just announced full photographic covers as a new album feature, and because the partial photo covers we’d gotten from another album company had been such a hit with clients, we were anxious to see if Album Crafters’ new full covers would be a good fit for our couples.
The Dani-Rob album was just about ready for production, so we decided our studio sample would be a great opportunity for testing Album Crafters’ new photo covers. Dana designed a photo cover featuring Dani & Rob with their wedding party on Popham Beach just before the start of the wedding ceremony, and we packed off our design, full photo cover and all, for production at Album Crafters.
To make a long story short, the album made up so well that Rachel asked our permission (and Dani & Rob’s) to feature the new album on their web site, and we’re excited to be seeing it there for the first time today.
We are extremely happy with how the album (and photo cover) turned out, and are excited about the design possibilities opened up by being able to offer full photo covers to our clients. Great job, everybody!
To see the album on the Album Crafters’ web site, navigate to Album Crafters’ site, after the intro click on “Components” and then on “Optional Covers.” On that page, you can click on our album (in the upper lefthand corner) for a page describing the Hard PhotoCover.
